Access and Safety

Access to some visitation points requires crossing the rio Tainhas and traveling on unpaved roads, which may change depending on weather conditions and water levels.

For this reason, it is recommended that visits be made with 4x4 vehicles or big-trail motorcycles, driven by people experienced in off-road driving and river crossings.

For a more comfortable, safe and enriching experience, it is recommended to hire local specialized guides or drivers, who are familiar with local conditions, access routes and the characteristics of the park's natural attractions.

If the visitor chooses to tour with their own vehicle and independent driving, it is essential to check weather conditions, road conditions and river water levels in advance before attempting any crossing.

When in doubt, do not cross.

The decision to make the crossing is the sole responsibility of the driver, who must assess vehicle conditions, their own experience, passenger safety and site conditions. Any and all actions taken during the visit are the sole responsibility of the visitors themselves.

• Plan your visit in advance
• Check the weather forecast before starting your tour
• Bring water, light food and warm clothing
• Wear clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor activities
• Stay on trails and authorized areas
• Observe wildlife from a distance
• Do not feed wild animals
• Do not remove plants, flowers, seeds or rocks
• Take all your trash back with you
• Respect residents, other visitors and neighboring properties
• Drive carefully to avoid accidents and wildlife roadkill

As this is a Full Protection Conservation Unit, some activities are not allowed within the park:

• Hunting
• Fishing
• Camping
• Lighting fires
• Using motorized boats
• Driving vehicles outside authorized areas
• Removing plants, seeds, animals or rocks
• Feeding wild animals
• Leaving waste in the park
